We will be at the Northern Great Lakes Visitor Center for a couple of days at the end of July with hands-on activities such as:

  • hot water ice drilling,
  • particle identification quiz,
  • extreme cold weather gear testing, and
  • LED programming.

  • We will have activities set up on Wednesday, July 24, from 10:00am to 4:00pm, and will have scheduled talks at 11:00am and 2:00pm. The 11:00am talk is about “Science at the South Pole” and will address what it’s like to work in one of the most extreme environments in the world. The presentation, packed with photos and videos, will cover getting to the South Pole, living there, and the basics of IceCube science.

At 2:00pm, you can join us for “A New View of the Universe,” an in-depth look at the exciting astronomy and physics behind the IceCube Neutrino Observatory.

On Thursday, July 25, hands-on activities will be available from 10:00am to 2:00pm, with a presentation of “Science at the South Pole” at 11:00am.
