About

Bringing the Universe to Wisconsin is a two-year public education program funded by the Ira and Ineva Reilly Baldwin Wisconsin Idea Endowment. The project is all about sharing science with Wisconsin, and we will conduct events at University of Wisconsin System schools as well as other schools, service clubs, coffee shops, or other locations.

Topics we cover during Bringing the Universe to Wisconsin events include:
• Challenges of constructing a huge research facility at the South Pole.
• Neutrinos! Tiny, mysterious, and very exciting particles.
• Search for dark matter.
• Computer science. We deal with huge amounts of data.
• Common but confusing particles called cosmic rays.

We launched the project because Wisconsin people and companies have played major roles in our efforts, particularly during the building and construction of our flagship project, the IceCube Neutrino Observatory.

Read on to learn about WIPAC, the research center that manages the project, the Ira and Ineva Reilly Baldwin Wisconsin Idea Endowment, who provided funding, and more details about our Wisconsin connections.
